Welcome to Silver Pear’s new website. After setting up the business in 2020 in the middle of a second lockdown we are both excited and proud to be finally launching our shop window to the world.

Since we opened our doors to the leisure, attractions and food and drinks sectors, we’ve been humbled by the interest in what we have to offer as a specialist PR agency, and grateful to all our clients for entrusting us to deliver strategic media and public relations across both trade and consumer.

From our first clients Dr Trouble, Belvoir Castle and Belvoir Farms, to our most recent – the wonderful new Yorkshire School of Garden Design, which is the brainchild of eminent garden designer Alistair Baldwin – and all those brilliant attractions and food and drink brands who have joined us in between, we are honoured to represent you.

Belvoir Castle

The Yorkshire School of Garden Design – a specialist learning hub for those who are interested in any aspect of commercial garden design and specifically teaches professionals how to work with northern landscapes – opens its doors in August.

Our PR consultants Chris and Olivia have been working really hard to raise its profile both regionally and nationally in specialist garden and landscape publications – with news of its informative short courses and its annual professional diploma course. As the school is based at one of the UK’s stunning Grade One listed Treasure Houses, Harewood, near Leeds – there will be plenty of inspiration from the beautiful Terrace Garden, Himalayan Garden, parklands and landscape that the historic house has to offer. A visit to Harewood never fails to impress.

This year Harriet has also been busy managing the Easter launch of Raby Castle’s £500k adventure playground Plotters Forest – built within its Christmas tree plantation. A real asset to the local communities of County Durham, the playground has been fully booked since it opened, we were delighted with over 150 pieces of coverage which included significant national, regional and trade publications.

Our work with Raby Castle, Park & Gardens is ongoing and with a full events programme to promote, as well as significant restoration work to enhance the visitor experience with retail, hospitality and events space – our work for this 700-year-old historic landmark is hugely exciting and rewarding as we work to build its profile as a national tourist destination and a valued local amenity.

This newsletter isn’t big enough to update you on everything we have been doing this year but I’ll certainly be bringing more news about our other amazing clients over the coming weeks.

However, before I sign off, I’d also like to introduce you to the newest member of the Silver Pear team.

Chris Sedgwick joined us in June and is such a welcomed and valued addition to our team of senior PR consultants. Not only has he earned his credentials in the profession with a groaning scrapbook of media clippings but turns out he is also the great nephew of Ruth Ellis – the last woman to be hanged in the UK and a personal heroine of mine.

Welcome Yorkshire School of Garden Design and welcome Chris.
