Sundown Halloween ‘Spooktacular’

The Brief

Sundown Adventureland’s Halloween ‘Spooktacular’ is an annual event, which takes place for several weeks through October. For 2023, Sundown introduced a brand-new trail for the year, where mini ghostbusters whizzed across the park in search of hidden skeletons in secret spots, and as they explored and completed the trail, visitors got to enjoy the dozens of rides and attractions the nostalgic park has to offer.

To complete the trail, little explorers simply needed to connect each skeleton to the location on the Puzzle Trail worksheet and identify a hidden word, where they earned an edible Halloween surprise from the Pumpkin Patch Cafe.

In stories for Sundown Adventureland, we also highlight Wild Acre Village, its on-site lodges, where guests can extend the fun for several nights/days, as a key priority is to have the lodges booked out.

The Approach

Because Sundown updated the trail this year, we wanted to capitalise on this and included this in key messages in a regional press release. We also invited targeted influencers to experience the Spooktacular event and share images and videos from their time at Sundown.

We asked them to highlight the variation of attractions at the under-10s theme park including rides, parks and soft play areas, that make the ticket extremely good value for money for families.

The Results

The story was picked up by several of the larger regional titles and we also invited local content creators to create a social buzz amongst what’s on/family content creators in the area. Sundown is an extremely visual place, so the gifted influencer invitations were extremely well received and they shared really engaging posts, Reels and Story content to highlight Sundown to their followers.

27 pieces of coverage in key regional titles, including Lincolnshire Live, Marketing Nottingham, Worksop Guardian and Hull Daily Mail, and with influencers Diary of the Denton Dolls, Homes With The Stanley Holmes, The Richardson Family, The Little Lewis Family and The D Diaries.
