Stonor Park Jubilee Jousting

Stonor Park Jubilee Jousting

The Brief

Stonor Park has been home to the Stonor family for the last 850 years, making it one of the oldest family residences in the UK. The historic building, with its 250 acres of sweeping grounds and beautiful gardens, was constructed on the site of an ancient stone circle, which dates back to the late Neolithic age.

In celebration of its extensive history and to mark HM The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, Stonor’s annual Medieval Jousting event was given a Royal upgrade. For 2022 only, the event took place over the three-day June Bank Holiday weekend and included a full programme of events from the Knights of Royal England.

To share news of this exciting event in the run-up, Silver Pear prepared a targeted strategy, exploring both regional and national media opportunities, in particular pursuing Jubilee events round-up features.

The Approach

In the run-up to the event, Silver Pear drafted and issued a national and regional press release, sharing the news of the unique upcoming event across the media landscape.

In addition, feature interviews for Stonor Park’s primary commentator, Lord Camoys, were secured with key local titles, in print, online and broadcast, securing placement in Jubilee events round-ups. Silver Pear also secured BBC One South Today’s attendance at the event, which was broadcast on their Friday evening segment, to mark the beginning of the special weekend.

Following the event, Silver Pear shared beautiful images and video content showing the lighting of the Jubilee Beacon with local media.

The Results

24 pieces of coverage, including Good Housekeeping Online, Bucks Free Press, This is Oxfordshire, Oxfordshire Live, Netmums, My Weekly, BBC Radio Berkshire, BBC Radio Oxford, River Radio, Henley Standard and three broadcast interviews on BBC One South.
